We welcome surfers of all abilities and ages (5+) and love teaching and sharing our stoke for the ocean and the surf!
Our founder and main surf instructor Kilian Garland has been teaching surf lessons in Santa Barbara for over 10 years and has traveled around the world as a professional surfer for the past 15 years.

What We Offer:
Lessons
Our instructors are available for private surf lessons from 7am to 7pm seven days a weeK
transportation can be arranged if needed. Rates are available here
Individual Beginner Lessons
90 minutes at Best Spot
We offer private one-on-one surf lessons to surfers of all experience levels ages 5 and up, adults included!
We will provide a soft-top surfboard and a comfortable wetsuit.
Group Lessons
90 minutes at best spot
We offer private group lessons for 90 minutes for groups of any size.
We will provide soft-top surfboards and comfortable wetsuits for every student.
Intermediate - Advanced Coaching
90 minutes at Best Spot
Kilian will either coach from the beach or the water, depending on the students skill level. Filming is included as well as video analysis.

Who We Are
Kilian Garland is the owner and operator of Surf Santa Barbara and has been a professional surfer on the World Surf League for 15 years. He is the 2017 WSL North American Champion and has won numerous events throughout his career. Throughout the years he has worked as a surf coach and instructor in Santa Barbara in between his events. He was born and raised in Santa Barbara and has always aspired to own and run his own surf school in the town where he grew up.
Our Mission
Water safety is our top priority here at Surf Santa Barbara. We teach surfers of all ages and experience levels skills that they need to keep themselves and others safe. Such skills include identifying unsafe water conditions such as riptides, ocean swim techniques, surf forecasting, and paddling techniques. We take pride in holding a fun, safe and interactive experience for our clients. All of our instructors are long-time surfers with a vast amount of ocean safety knowledge. That being said, if you would like to focus on any specific area of interest during your surf lesson, feel free to make your instructor aware, and they will do their best to make an accommodation.
